The fact that you set a race that you are FOR SURE doing will help motivate you to get out there and put in some awesome miles. I'm doing a 5k in 4 weeks and am SUPER EXCITED. I would throw in some intervals for speed work (I like 400 repeats) to get your body used to running faster, plus they're FUN. Who doesn't like to run fast for a change? :) Good luck! I just heat veg or canola oil in a pan on the stove... about med heat and cut corn tortillas in 1/4's and fry em up... sprinkle a little salt over the top and that's it!
