Happy to say I will be attending the 2nd annual Healthy Living Summit in August.  I’ve never been to Chicago, so if anyone knows of places to eat and visit, please let me know.

I came home just in time to purchase my ticket Wednesday night after Zumba class and a 2 mile run.

Loving my new Yoga top, purchased for a measly $1.99 @ Old Navy. Woohoo gotta love that store; the tank kept me nice and cool during Zumba.

Freaking out…

I’ve been slacking in the running department lately…shame on me. I’m running this 5k with Kyra from A Foodie Gets Fit on Saturday for ”Run for Retrievers”; can’t wait to meet her in person.  I’m focusing on fun rather than time, but I know I may change my mind at the last minute before the race begins.

Snack Attack.

Last night called for a late night smoothie since my body is craving fruits. Some weeks I go heavy on veggies but slack on fruit; not on purpose.

My smoothie contained:

  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 packet Amazing Grass Green Food

 Happy Friday.

”Shake It Like A Salt Shaker”

I think it’s the perfect workout song for the shake weight.

Does this shake weight really work?

I’m thinking about getting one just for FUN, though I know it’s sooooo pricey!

I’ll tell you now that this purchase will disappear into the second bedroom closet, after 2 weeks use.

Only disappointing thing I’ve found about the weight is it’s only 2 1/2 pounds. Heck, I thought it would at least weigh 5 pounds each.

Does this come in pink or green?  I’d like something cute to match my workout outfits.

Here’s how to use it, in case the weight seems like a tricky device. lol

Come on…who doesn’t want sexy, sculpted arms!

I feel a Wal-mart trip and future ”shake weight” review to come. LOL

Anyone own a shake weight?

I finally found a Zumba class in my area!!

I’m bored with fitness dvd’s and need a live atmosphere!

To my surprise it’s taught at the local rec center across the street from my office. My first class is today and I have a friend & coworker joining me for this new fitness adventure.

Here’s some information for those of you not familiar with Zumba.

Zumba is a dance fitness program created by dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez in Colombia during the 1990s. The program combines Latin and international musicwith dance in an effort to make exercise fun. Zumba classes are offered through licensed instructors in more than 50,000 fitness center locations in over 75 countries.[1] DVDs are also available for learning at home. Classes and instructional DVDs use music based on salsa, merengue, cumbia, reggaeton and other international music styles and forms.

Other Findings:

Browsing through www.sparkpeople.com, I came across their fitness store. I’ve used their website to track my calories for 4 years now, but I had never bothered to browse their store. They have Fitness equipment, apparel, lunch kits, dvd’s and certificates at great low prices.

Also I’ve been loving www.sparkrecipes.com for delicious meals. They even have a SparkPeople and SparkRecipe IPhone app!

What new things have you come across recently?

So far, I’ve pinched two friends at work this morning, for not wearing green :)

I celebrated St. Patrick’s Day this past Saturday with some friends. We went down to the block party & parade in Lower Greenville. The weather was warm and windy but still sunny. We walked around the streets trying to find an ATM that had money, in order to eat some food and get our hands on the green beer everyone was drinking.

(No, I’m not drinking two drinks at once.  I’m holding my friends drink who was taking our picture)

I’m loving Daylight Savings this time around. Even though we have lost an hour, someway, somehow I have managed to wake up with out an alarm. I’ve been waking up at 5:30 and still rested. My normal bedtime is usually around 10:30-11:00pm.

I was pumped to get an early morning workout before packing lunch and getting ready for the work day.

Does anyone workout to ”The Firm” fitness dvd’s?

Those ladies are in top shape and everyone is full of energy…some mornings their too happy for me. lol

Morning Oats

  • 1/2 cup Dannon Light & Fit Vanilla Yogurt
  • 1 package Apple & Cinnamon instant oats
  • 1/2 cup Fruit Not Fat Vanilla Almond Granola

I had forgotent how delicious oatmeal is for breakfast.  I knew that after my morning workout this bowl of oats would keep me full until lunch time.

Lunch: Taco Salad

(ground turkey, full can of  black beans, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes,

 Have a lovely Wednesday!

I’ll be attending a St. Patrick’s Day Wedding in 6 hours, so I’m curious to see if  there will be a lot of guests wearing green. I don’t even know what I’m wearing, but I know it’s nothing green!
