Let’s take a moment to remember all the Men/Women who fought for our freedom and still pray for all the people at Ft. Hood, here in Texas. I was happy last week to learn my friend did not have training down at Ft. hood; his training was local and I was thankful for his safety.
It feels so weird to have a day off during the middle of the week, but I was happy to sleep. Also to go for run that wasn’t before 6am and have Chris join me.
Pre-Run Fuel: toasted bun with PB and Strawberry cream cheese… don’t judge. I don’t like anything on my stomach in the morning but since I slept in I was hungry. I made myself eat this and drank a tall glass of water, then headed out the door.
Exercise: I’m very proud of my 32 minute 3 mile run/walk.
I was so happy that I pushed myself and kept going plus encouraging words from Chris as we ran. I hate his long legs and how is always ahead of me j/k. I think 32 minutes is pretty good considering this ex-sprinter from high school is attempting to become a long distance girl. I had decided to not run the Turkey Trot later this month and run a different 5k in early December; after today I’m may do both races. Am I crazy? I think so because that is two 5k’s in less than 2 weeks! Today’s run took me back to high school and early college days, when I loved to compete and run for fun….I miss those days. I’m setting goals for myself and sticking with them, which I’m proud to say is going well.
Future Goals:
- 5k coming up shortly
- 10k by Summer 2010
- Half by Fall 2010
Wish me Luck!
I was extremely tired when I got back to the apartment! I started to make a Amazing Grass Smoothie and decided to drink it tomorrow morning instead. I ran out of bananas and was too scared to try it without them, the smell turned me away
I’ll try this Amazing Grass shake tomorrow morning after my workout.
Late Lunch: Chris and I ate at Mr. Chopsticks and I was starving, so I did not take any pics of my yummy Basil chicken w/ brown rice.
I always leave that restaurant with leftovers, portions are big but extra delicious.
Pictures on the way home…
I think a new GLEE comes on tonight plus Modern Family and Cougar Town….Happy Girl over here!
How many of you are runners? What races and goals do you have set for yourself?

Great job on your run! Can’t wait to hear how your 5K goes!
Jamie, you go girl. I remember that exercise. I need to start lifting again.
Not sure how I got “blessed” to have that PSYCHO in my life! LOL
The booty exercise? I normally do leg curls… where you lay on your stomach and curl your legs up but that machine was taken SO I tried one where you stand w/ your stomach against the machine and you press the foot pedal BACK one foot at a time w/ a specific weight set. Being as that it was only one leg at a time (no help from the other) it REALLY worked me! Sorry… I have no idea what it was called!
Great job girl!! I can totally relate since I can’t run at all.
32 minutes is excellent for a 3 mile run/walk! Great job!!
YEAH RUNNNING!!!!!! I am so addicted, but when I started I was slow and it was awful. It gets better though and becomes so relaxing
Mr Chopsticks!!! I lived so close to there. I loved it.
Your toasted bun actually looks really good. Sometimes that bread is just more soft. I hope your runs continue to go well and improve!
Good job on the run and walk combo! I want to be a runner some day!
I so do not like running, but I am sure I should try again sometime soon.
great job on the run chica! mmm.. almond breeze.. my fave i love your goals, you are so motivated and driven!
These goals are great!! You should totally do both races We have a Turkey Trot at home in Clearwater too. I would love to train for long distance runs one day.. but I’m still stuck on that 30ish minute 2.5-3 mile run thing. You are awesome!!!
BTW I love that you are in an interrelationship like me and also you love glee!
Thanks Diana, I think we were lurking at the same time.lol
You should do the races. I mean, you ran a 5K today, you can do it again! Twice!
My goal is to do a sub 30 minute 5K.
I think I will try and do both races!
You go girlie! Great job on the run!! I’m definitely not a runner by any means, but it’s such a fun challenge to try to tackle. Anyway, keep it up! You can do it!
Those are great goals! I’m glad that someone had the day off from work.
I’m a runner, but don’t really have any goals right now. I guess that happens when you’ve been running for 20 years. I’m going to try to get into the NYC 1/2 when the registration opens for the race in March.
Congrats on the run and on knocking out those goals! I was supposed to run my first 5K the week of Christmas but have been sidelined indefinitely by shin splints. Grr. I’m a new reader – I love your blog! You’re so cute!
Wow that is fabulous! I can’t wait to run my first 5k
You guys are a cute couple!
I run, but I don’t feel confident that I can call myself a runner…yet!
Looks like you and Chris had a nice day together!
Great job on the run!!!
WOooohoooo for Glee!!!
Nice run!! I’m a run/walker myself right now.
Ok sorry to hijack your comments section but dont’ forget to post a recipie that incorporates Fage or greek yogurt in order to be eligible to win it. You have one part done (BTW, pineapple is one of my favs, too!) and just need to get the other.
Hey Nicci!
Girl – thanks for the complment on my bloggie blog.. I know, the smell of some of the Amazing Grass products doesn’t apply to all… LOL. My hubs was kind of weary of it too, but he hates vegetables so we were expecting that…not to mention he’s not all about the natural or healthy stuff like we are. I have found that a little bit of something sweet goes a long way with the grass’…which is why I think it’s good in whey. I am interested to see what you think after your breafast smoothie! Last night I had one mixed up (magic bullet style) with Fage, a banana, and a sprinkle of stevia. UM!!! SO GOOD
Have a great night
Congrats on the run! I gave running a try in September and fell in love with it, just keep pushing your limit and it’s all worth it
Gleetime soon!! yay!! xoxo
I am not a runner yet, but I am working on it!
Um I love modern family, definitely excited for it tonight
And congrats on the run! I say do both 5ks, I walk/ran my first one in May and it was great. I just finished my first half marathon! I was 4th from last but still very excited, next I want to run a fast-ish 5k.
Good luck!
Nice job on the running/walking girl! I think I qualify myself as a runner now I am doing a 10 miler this weekend and a half in December! yayyyyyy! Cute pick of you and the man!
