Guess whose in Texas for the whoooole week? THENHEATHERSAID!
Heather (far right), Lauren (middle) and I got together for the Stonebridge Memorial Day Races (5k)!

Wednesday night, there will be a nice size blogger dinner with some more awesome ladies!
Body Confidence: I bought a two piece bathing suit this weekend to go swimming with friends (Sunday & Monday), to beat the Texas heat. For the first time, in years I had little frustration finding a suit and kept all negative thoughts, out of my head….that’s one Summer goal complete!
Other Happenings: The past month has been crazy for me. I was offered a new position at work. Go ME! I am now a Case Specialist and I have one job, not two! HALLELUJAH. Now, I’m about to train a coworker for my old positions and continue training for the new one, and were on a short time schedule….crazy.
I’m also excited to see what the month of June will bring!
How do you stay active over a holiday?
Finally after months of putting it off, I ran an official 5k!
I woke up bright and early to leave for my race; driving sucks especially when you take the wrong exit and you know where your going. I thank the sing-a- long I was having with the radio and not paying attention.
No clue as to where my half functioning Polar watch…I had no watch to run with. Boo!
I finished the 5k in 40:45:41
Okay for a first 5k and weeks…cough. cough. of putting off runs. Actually annoyed with myself about the time (just a tad). Knowing I could have pushed myself and gone harder. Thinking back to my high school & college track days, when I was a sprinter. Then again this is not sprinting…this is long distance and I’m still building up endurance.
New Goals:
- Run 3x a week
- next 5k under 35 minutes
- Using couch to 5k app during my runs
Can you spot me in this picture taken by Kyra’s hubby??
Definitely had a great race this morning with Kyra and can’t wait to run another 5k.

(pardon the messy hair and sweating)
Have a great Saturday.
Chris and I couldn’t make it to friends b-day at the Ballpark so we’re going to a movie after he gets off from work?
Anyone seen Iron Man or Robin Hood. decisions. decisions.
Happy to say I will be attending the 2nd annual Healthy Living Summit in August. I’ve never been to Chicago, so if anyone knows of places to eat and visit, please let me know.
I came home just in time to purchase my ticket Wednesday night after Zumba class and a 2 mile run.
Loving my new Yoga top, purchased for a measly $1.99 @ Old Navy. Woohoo gotta love that store; the tank kept me nice and cool during Zumba.

Freaking out…
I’ve been slacking in the running department lately…shame on me. I’m running this 5k with Kyra from A Foodie Gets Fit on Saturday for ”Run for Retrievers”; can’t wait to meet her in person. I’m focusing on fun rather than time, but I know I may change my mind at the last minute before the race begins.
Snack Attack.
Last night called for a late night smoothie since my body is craving fruits. Some weeks I go heavy on veggies but slack on fruit; not on purpose.

My smoothie contained:
- 1 cup strawberries
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 packet Amazing Grass Green Food
Happy Friday.

I have finally done it, no more procrastinating…
I have picked my first 5k for the year!

Ft. Worth YMCA Turkey Trot November 26, 2009
I’m very excited and will begin training next week. I’m giving myself a lot of time to train. I’m not a fast runner but I would like to run the whole race without walking!! I’m so nervous about this running, but I know I need to step it up. I haven’t done a 5k since 2007, which was the MK5K (Mary KAY). I try and run 3 times a week and I do it to stay in shape…now I’d like to run to win!
Please leave me a comment with any tips, methods of training or advice…thanks guys!
How did you prepare for your first 5k or any race??
