Yes, it finally happened…and super fast!
Tuesday, I tweeted about needing a new/used HRM. Minutes later sweet Lauren, a twitter/blogger friend, came to the rescue!
Lauren’s bf had a Garmin for sale and it was in great shape…barely used.
I’m so excited to get back into running and participate in races. I have my first group run this Saturday with BGR! Dallas and two 5ks in May.
This Garmin is my new BFF!
Wish me Luck, I now need to sit down and figure out my new gadget.
Are you new to running or getting back into it? Do you have a new gadget that you love?
Happy to say I will be attending the 2nd annual Healthy Living Summit in August. I’ve never been to Chicago, so if anyone knows of places to eat and visit, please let me know.
I came home just in time to purchase my ticket Wednesday night after Zumba class and a 2 mile run.
Loving my new Yoga top, purchased for a measly $1.99 @ Old Navy. Woohoo gotta love that store; the tank kept me nice and cool during Zumba.
Freaking out…
I’ve been slacking in the running department lately…shame on me. I’m running this 5k with Kyra from A Foodie Gets Fit on Saturday for ”Run for Retrievers”; can’t wait to meet her in person. I’m focusing on fun rather than time, but I know I may change my mind at the last minute before the race begins.
Snack Attack.
Last night called for a late night smoothie since my body is craving fruits. Some weeks I go heavy on veggies but slack on fruit; not on purpose.
My smoothie contained:
- 1 cup strawberries
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 packet Amazing Grass Green Food
Happy Friday.
Working two different positions at work is going great so far. I’ve been quite busy so excuse my absence from updating and reading. I also did not feel the need to update the blog and bore readers with repeat meals.
Last night, I used virgin coconut oil to cook YUMMY chicken.
Yes! good ole fashion fried chicken.
The Way to a Southern Girl’s Heart
I’ve eaten 80% clean this week besides gobbling up the strawberry bread. I have to say I rarely miss fried foods, but I can’t resist the smell and taste of fried chicken.
My first time cooking fried chicken and it was a success!
Chicken, green beans and a tomato/cucumber salad
French Toast on a Saturday
Ingredients:
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup Almond Breeze
- 1 banana
Drizzled with agave nectar
Fitness:
A 3 mile run courtesy of Missy, in the cold. I initially bundled up for a quick walk in the park, but she insisted on running. I left the camera at home but here she is afterward relaxing on the couch. She’s got a sheet, we let her sit on…too much dog hair!
Can you tell she is tired?
Have a great Weekend!
Any Super Bowl plans, who are you cheering for tomorrow?
Look ya’ll snow in Texas!!!
This snow didn’t stay around too long, by noon the snow had melted away.
Breakfast: Chai Tea and a icky brown banana..still good though.
Snack: peanut butter crackers
Lunch: The best Turkey sandwich EVER!!
My turkey sandwich was simple: Turkey, loads of spinach, light mayo and s&p. I devoured this down, I think I should have eaten a bigger breakfast.
Greek yogurt with raisins. I had tortilla chips, but decided they were too salty to chomp on.
The raisins added the sweetness I was craving.
Yum
Dinner: Leftover turkey, sweet potatoes and dressing. It was good and I ate every bite. No pics…camera died by then.
I added some Christmas to our coffee table last night.
My white/gold candle decided to hide from you…may need a taller one.
**News**
I haven’t even ran a official 5k, but I’ve decided to challenge myself and run a half with Kels and some other ladies! Wish me luck!! I think I’ve lost my mind, but as long as I train, give it my all…I’m Happy!
Have a great night,
- Nicci
PS. (I forgot to mention I’m doing the Dallas Rock n Roll, March 2010)
