Healthy Alternative

by Nicci on 06/23/2010

Sometimes I just want a big bowl.

Chris loves his sugary cereal, on the mornings he’s off from work. I love my ceareal on the weekends or as a late night snack. I lean towards ”Raisin Bran” most days. Yum. I need the box that contains the EXRA SCOOP of raisins. My all time guilty pleasure is that colorful box of  Fruity Pebbles…takes me back to my childhood days of watching cartoons on Saturday mornings.

Healthy alternative

This mornings breakfast:  cantaloupe, strawberries, black berries and Galaxy Granola’s  new ”Maple Pecan Quinoa” granola.

Mix it all up.

What’s your favorite kind of cereal?

How do you make your breakfast healthy?

T.G.I.F Tacos

by Nicci on 10/16/2009

I’m so happy Friday has come and the work week is over.  Chobani yogurt and fruit is just what I needed to get the work day flowing.

Along with a big bowl of fruit: grapes, strawberries and apples

nicoles pics 002

Snack time: 2 mini apple cinnamon PURE bars.  This raw fruit bar tasted great. I may go buy some for lunch next week.

nicoles pics 003

Since I had a late breakfast and a bagel with cream cheese (not pictured) I passed on lunch.  That’s when I had another PURE bar :)

Chris and I hadn’t had tacos in awhile, so I whipped up a fast and easy meal for dinner.

Easy 90 second Fiery Fiesta Pilaf with black beans.

Of course I needed some fruit.  I had been craving grapes all day at work.

I Heard It Through The Grapevine

by Nicci on 09/19/2009

The Britney concert was FABULOUS!

The seats were nice for upper terrace ;-)

Morning Time

I needed some fresh fruit and Greek yogurt in my life this morning.

nicoles pics 1047

Pomegranate YUM :)

nicoles pics 1044

It took me awhile to find the pom seeds but I did eventually taste them down under.

I was starting to miss red seedless grapes.  I used to think green seedless were the best, but now I’m torn.

These were the best juicy red grapes!

Grape are Great!

See you guys later, I’m off to clean & get ready for the Grape Fest in Grapevine, Tx with Kaytee!

Nifty Fun Facts about Grapes:

BACKGROUND

  • Did you know that more grapes are grown around the world than any other fruit?
  • Grapes are one of oldest known cultivated fruits.
  • Fossil evidence suggests that grapes
were grown and harvested in the area now known as Iran as early as 8000 years ago.
Concord grapes are one of only three fruits native to North America (the other two are
    cranberries and wild blueberries.)
  • In the late 18th century Spanish missionaries traveling
north from Mexico are thought to have introduced European grapes to California.
Today California is a leading producer of both wine and table grapes.

TYPES

  • There are thousands of varieties of grapes grown throughout the world, but all these varieties can be classified as either European or American.
  • European grapes have tightskins that adhere to the fruit while the American varieties have loose skin, or slip-skinthat easily slips from the fruit when cut or bitten.
  • Grapes can also be classified as seedless or with seeds, or according to use – table grapes for eating or making into raisins, grapes for use in commercial foods or grapes for wine or juice.
  • The most popular table grape variety in the U.S. is the Thompson Seedless.
Almost any time of year you can find red and green Thompson seedless table grapes in
    your local supermarket.

How do you eat your grapes?

”Hit Me Baby One More Time”

britney-spears-1011

Britney I will see you tomorrow night!  Chris brother texted him yesterday asking ”Does Nicole want Britney tickets?”

I think Chris went deaf from my screaming…..Heck Yea I Do! Chris’ brother is interning at the Convention center and got me free tickets!

I’m taking my friend Jeremy b/c he always  gets tickets to events and takes me. I want to take him to something for a change.  I wish I could have gotten 1 more, but they were free, can’t complain.

Later…

Chris and I went grocery shopping tonight, but just for fruits and veggies.  I like hitting up Sack n Save where the produce is cheap yet really fresh.

grapes, apples, mango’s, bananas, bell peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, okra, tomatoes, onions, sweet potatoes, fresh cilantro.  Plus some Silk, canned pumpkin, coconut water and tomato sauce.

Giant Cucumber I must say.

nicoles pics 1040

I found this coconut water in the international section. I’ll let you guys know how it tastes. nicoles pics 1041

Chris thought this was funny and insisted I take a picture.

I wouldn’t eat that cereal, especially with a name like that. sorry

nicoles pics 1037

Guess what’s in my fridge?

Chobani fairy came to visit my fridge while I was at work.

Uhmmm…. Glad my oikos was not sold at Sack n Save.

nicoles pics 1042

I’m a Oikos lover but I’ll give them a taste test.  I think I have every flavor they make.  I’ll do a review of these later next week.

They are trying to convert me over with all these yummy looking flavors. ;-)

Thanks for the samples Morgan!

What flavor of Chobani do you like?  What should I try first?
