Healthy Makes Happy…In My Opinion

by Nicci on 10/10/2009

I just have to say, she is stunning and I hope to look this good in 20+ years.

First Lady Michelle Obama commits to waking up at 4:30 AM to workout.  Her number 1 rule:

”Give yourself permission to be happy”

michelle-obama-in-kai

Michelle Obama also talks about health in the new issue of Prevention magazine.”

Enjoy Everything in Moderation

”I try to have no absolute nos. I love french fries, I like a good burger, and I like pie. And that’s okay. I would be depressed if I felt I could never eat the things that I love. I also don’t want my girls to be obsessed about food. We don’t have a “no junk food” rule—I just want them to think about their choices. When my older daughter asks, “Can I have pie?” I’ll say, “Did you have it yesterday? Well, what do you think?” And she’ll come to the conclusion that, you know, you’re right, I shouldn’t eat pie every night.”

I hope every one’s having a great weekend.  I’m off to finish watching the Longhorns game with my sweetie & find some Pumpkin pie :)

Who/What is your inspiration for living healthy, whether they’re celebs or someone in your life??

ah! i love michelle obama. she’s made of 1 million percent AWESOME. she always looks so stunning. it’s good to know she allows herself those treats and the freedom to make choices and that she’s passing that sensibility along to her kids.

We really don’t have any figure heads of the country to be proud of here since Princess Diana.

Maybe it will sound narcissistic, but I am my own role model at living healthy. I know I am obsessive sometimes, but I try to be more flexible and I’m doing great. I love healthy tasty food, I love when I workout, and the key is enjoying it.

I love the Obama’s, talk about an amazing American Family. And I LOVE that Michelle Obama is just classically beautiful.

My fitness role model. That’s a good question. I never had one growing up as my parents weren’t terrible active, though my mom has always walked. I’d say it would be my Aunt. She has always focused on her health in a good way. Sometimes I feel like I’m my own fitness role model, too!

gota love beautiful Michelle!!

my role model is my mother and father. They were the ones who sparked my interest in exercise at a young age and I transformed myself. Now they still are the backbone to my life. Without them I dont know where I would be. We cook together, eat healthy together and live healthier lives because of eachother!

I love the WONDERFUL example she is setting for women & girls nationwide! =) My “healthy & fit” rolemodle has been my Husband. He has been a body builder for over 10+ years and eats amazingly healthy for a man. He was their for me when I was almost 250 pounds and all the way through my weight loss down to 142 today. He always had great advice and “postive” comments for me along the way. I also love Jillian Michaels too.

My fitness role model is Jillian Michaels, I know that sounds like a typical answer but I truly admire her dedication. I also admire the older ladies in my gym; I love seeing these 60 year old ladies out there and working up a sweat

My inspiration is a co-worker who has Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. She is in her late 60′s and her husband, mother, brother and sister-in-law all passed away in the same 2 years from different ailments. She had a bone marrow transplant many years ago and she has to check into the hospital every Friday night for a blood transfusion to keep her body healthy enought to do the activites she loves. When she checks out of the hospital every Saturday, she goes to Zumba! She goes to Zumba during the week as well and takes walks on her break at work. Her mid-morning snack everyday is a lite string cheese or a yogurt. She eats a healthy diet and has indulgences in moderation. For example: she goes out to brunch with friends on Sundays after church and orders one fruit crepe with a side of oats. She is SUCH an inspiration to me!!

Great answers ladies! My role model is my Mother and Grandma, they still continue to workout and eat healthy.
Jenna- Wow, in her 60′s that is awesome.

My inspiration is knowing the women in my family have remained healthy late in life, and wanting to continue that tradition!
I am a big fan of Michelle Obama. I think if someone like her can commit to working out everyday, what’s my excuse?

My inspiration, sadly, is seeing the poor health of my relatives. High blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes. That’s enough to keep me in line.

My fitness role model, however, is Zen Gray. I love her.

My inspiration is just feeling good, and knowing that my body will thank me if I treat it well.
