Getting My Austin Greek On

by Nicci on 09/13/2010

I’m in the great City of Austin for a HUD training this week until Friday.

My goal this week is to study after classes, but also fit in some fun and check out the city.

Felt like a dream rolling out of bed for a 5:30am treadmill run.

That was a first in a loooong time to be up that early!

Work out

Big FAIL forgetting to pack my earphones so I watched TV and busted out 3 miles on the treadmill.

Hotel Fitness Center

Back in my room, I pulled out my Yoga mat for AB exercises.Yoga Mat

The tummy started to rumbled so I made my way to the hotel breakfast bar.

Avoided the good looking doughnuts….boooo LOL

Picked up a strawberry yogurt & banana.

Then came the no flavor eggs and a good half of a bagel with PB & honey.

Greek for Lunch!!

Met a nice lady in class who suggested Greek; so my coworkers and I followed her to ”Austin Greek Deli”, a tiny Mom & Pop deli!

So my coworkers have never eaten Greek but they were daring & adventurous today.

Usually, they are very, very, picky eaters. Shocked they even said YES!

In the midst of packing & moving, I was able to go out  and enjoy a nice dinner with friends.

Jeremy, one of my best guy friends, and another friend named Steve, made reservations at Go Fish Ocean Club in Addison, Texas.

I’m pretty sure this restaurant is popular for the delicious food, but also for the Executive Chef, Tiffany Derry

Tiffany Derry is currently one of the final five, on  ”Top Chef’ D.C. ”

House Salad: mixed greens, candied spicy walnuts, apples, cherry tomatoes and honey whole grain mustard dressing.

Hawaiian Tuna: Sesame seed crusted/Spring risotto/Lemongrass

Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding:Dark & White chocolate chunks, cherries, almonds, and crème anglaise

Every course was amazing, and I look forward to visiting this restaurant again!!

(Note to self: remember to charge camera battery the night before)

Any restaurant weeks going on where you live?  Have you tried a new restaurant lately?

Chinese Food has been on my mind all day today.

The kind people of MyBlogSpark sent me a sample of the New Wanchai Ferry Beef & Broccoli Meal for Two.

This meal was exactly what we needed tonight; I was tired from work and wanted something delicious and quick to prepare.

Simply heat rice in the microwave, heat vegetables and sauce, in the skillet over the stove. Place your skillet contents over the rice and serve.

Pros:

  • Took 14 minutes as the package stated
  • Chris and I both LOVED the sauce…sweet and tangy
  • Beef cuts were surprisingly good (I’m not big on frozen beef cuts)
  • Great amount of vegetables (We love our broccoli)
  • No MSG

Cons:

  • We are not big on eating white rice
  • Not enough rice for two people – Chris can EAT!

Overall, the Wanchai Ferry ”Beef & Broccoli” was a delicious alternative to Chinese take-out!

If your interested in trying this meal you can get a $1.50 off coupon here!

You can also check out the Wanchai website for more summer meal tips. There are also two other new flavors, Kung Pao Chicken and Szechuan Style Chicken, also five other delicious varieties including Orange Chicken, Shrimp Lo Mein, Spicy Garlic Chicken and Sweet & Sour Chicken

Giveaway Time! Later this week I’ll have a gift for one lucky reader from Wanchai Ferry via MyBlogSpark!

(All information, frozen sample, prize pack and giveaway have all been provided by Wanchai Ferry through MyBlogSpark.)

Be on the lookout ;)

Time To Open Shop!

by Nicci on 08/10/2010

I’m proud to announce I will be partnering with OpenSky to bring  you guys FOOD, FITNESS AND FUN products. I’ll have my very own store and share reviews of products I enjoy using!

OpenSky  is full of shopkeepers who are passionate about the products they offer, and nothing beats an honest product review from a friend.

Feel free to check out myOpenSky store, this week August 10th -16th type in EXCITE25 at the checkout and you’ll receive 25% off any product on OpenSky!!

My first fun product that I have fallen for is the Gracie Gear A-Line Tank Top.

I’ve wanted a Tank with a built in pocket located on my chest for awhile now.  I ordered my tank in a medium and it fit snug, so I suggest you go up a size when purchasing the tank!

The Gracie Gear Tank’s pocket is definitely more comfortable for holding the ipod, money or phone when running.  Not having to worry about my ipod arm band falling off or slipping down, during a workout.

Loving the light weight material and the length of the tank, which is longer than other brands.

 I love long tanks :)

  •  Made of polyester and spandex materials.
  •  Features a Power Pouch for all essential workout utilities.
  •  Loop hole for cord feed.
  • Sweeps sweat and heat for maximum ventilation.
  •  Inhibits odor causing bacteria.
  • Two inches longer than normal tank.
  • Can also be used as a bra.

If you have  a request for any FOOD, FITNESS OR FUN products and would like a review on it, please send me an email.  I’d love to check out products you love and would recommend to your friends!

Don’t forget to use code  EXCITE25 at the checkout and you’ll receive 25% off  on this product and any other product on OpenSky!!
